C. de Deus

The UPP at Cidade de Deus was inaugurated on February 16th, 2009, with a contingent of 190 recently graduated police officers. With the opening of this Pacifier Division, which works with the concept of Communitarian Police, Cidade de Deus became the second community to benefit from this new model of policing.

Cidade de Deus is located at Rio’s West zone and stretches itself along an area of 135.392.02 square feet. The local administration estimates that 120 thousand people currently live in the place.

The community was made famous worldwide after the 2002 film Cidade de Deus (City of God), directed by Fernando Meirelles.
